Internships
Talladega Superspeedway Communications & Consumer Marketing Department
*About the company: Located in Talladega, Ala., Talladega Superspeedway opened in fall 1969 and ever since has been host to two annual race event weekends including the Aaron's 499 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in the spring and the Talladega 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in the fall.
*Position: Intern positon - we are most seeking applicants who could begin working with us through our spring race weekend (May 4 – 6, 2012), however, we are always willing to consider resumes from prospective interns and can work with your schedule.
*Duties: various tasks, including promotional and race weekend work. It is an excellent opportunity to broaden your communication skills as well as your knowledge of sports promotion at a world-class facility.
We are flexible with scheduling internship work hours, however at the very least, a time investment of two days a week (or 14 hours) is preferred. Regular business hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, with some weekend work needed for major events.
*Required skills: Communications majors with an emphasis in the field of public relations or journalism are preferred, however students in other relevant fields of study will be considered. Must be reliable, punctual, and take initiative.

University of Alabama, Office of Educational Technology
*Position: Web Design Specialist. The Office of Educational Technology, which resides within the College of Arts & Sciences at UA is currently looking for a web designer. Our web division focuses primarily on building websites and software for departments within the College.

*Job Summary: The Web Design Specialist is responsible for the graphic design and user interface development for web sites and web applications for the College of Arts and Science’s Office of Educational Technology (eTech). This position reports to the Director of Web Development and, with minimal supervision, administers website template creation,
provides consultation for projects that include content management graphic design, usability design, photography support; analyzes customer’s needs; and implements requirements using appropriate available technologies. The Web Design Specialist should have strong
written and oral communication skills, be well organized and be able to manage multiple projects at one time, be able to work with the other members of the Web Development Team, and act as a mentor for student workers in the Web Development office.
*Department Requirements: The Web Design Specialist must have 3-5 years of design experience in developing graphic design solutions for online, internet-based publication or must be able to present a substantive portfolio.
Collegiate Leaders in Environmental Health
Application Period for CDC/ATSDR Summer Internship Program Now Open!
*Position: CDC’s National Center for Environmental Health and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (NCEH/ATSDR) are offering a 10-week summer internship program for students who are passionate about the environment, interested in human health, and curious about how they are linked. During the course of the internship students are introduced to environmental health at the federal level through collaborative projects, experiential learning opportunities, individual environmental health presentations, journal clubs, field trips, brown bag lunches, and shadowing and mentoring relationships at CDC/ATSDR.
* Interns will be based at CDC/ATSDR’s Chamblee Campus and will be paid a stipend of approximately $600 a week during the course of the program.

*Eligibility requirements for CLEH interns:
1. US citizenship or Permanent Resident with a green card
2. Full time enrollment at a college or university as a rising junior or rising senior by fall 2012

Alabama Productivity Center
*Company Description: The APC is a nonprofit organization at the University of Alabama, partners with businesses statewide, offering assistance in the form of technical projects, training events and consulting.
*Position: public relations and communications assistant
*Responsibilities: generating content for and designing the quarterly e-newsletter, creating promotional material, generating content for Web site, writing press releases, proofreading, and other support work.
